Christina Aguilera - Loyal Brave True (From Mulan) _BEST_

"War is not freedom. Over my shoulder I see a clearer view. All for my family, the reason I'm breathing, everything to lose," Aguilera sings in the opening verse. "Should I ask myself in the water what a warrior would do? Tell me underneath my armor am I loyal, brave, and true?" she continues in the chorus.

Christina Aguilera - Loyal Brave True (From Mulan)

"Tell me underneath my armor, am I loyal, brave, and true?" she inquires in her new song "Loyal Brave True." The track originally debuted back in March ahead of the premiere of the live-action Mulan. Now with the film poised for a premium release on Disney+ on Sept. 4, Aguilera delivers a new music video of the original tune.

The newly-released clip from Mulan features both new footage from the live-action re-telling of the story and a brief clip of the new original song, "Loyal Brave True." In a movie which will have no new songs, unlike the 1998 animated movie which made songs like "Honor to Us All" and "I'll Make a Man Out of You" part of the zeitgeist, "Loyal Brave True" is like a breath of fresh air. The song pulls its title from a line spoken by Mulan's father (Tzi Ma), who we hear say in the beginning of the clip, "Let me speak, ancestors, of the great warrior Mulan. The loyal, the brave, the true." We then hear Aguilera's voice chime in on the soaring ballad as we watch Mulan (Liu Yifei) suit up, say good-bye to her father, train with the rest of the Chinese army, and face off against the new villain, Xian Liang (Gong Li).

"Loyal Brave True" is a song from the 2020 live-action release of Mulan, performed by Christina Aguilera that is played during the credits. The song's title references Mulan's father Hua Zhou speaking of Mulan to their ancestors, stating that she is "the great warrior Mulan: the loyal, the brave, the true." The Chinese symbols for "Loyal Brave True" appear on Hua Zhou's sword and later on Hua Mulan's Sword with an additional symbol for family.

The song reflects -- pun intended -- Mulan's self-doubt, as Aguilera sings, \"Should I ask myself in the water / What a warrior would do? / Tell me underneath my armor / Am I loyal, brave, and true?\"

Christina Aguilera dropped her music video for "Loyal Brave True" on Friday, and it has us feeling all sorts of inspired. The visuals feature the 39-year-old singer beautifully belting the soft tune, which is featured on the soundtrack for Disney's upcoming remake of Mulan. While Aguilera boasts her gorgeous vocals, silhouetted scenes from the film slowly play in the background, giving us a sneak peek at Mulan's forthcoming journey. "Should I ask myself in the water / What a warrior would do?" Aguilera croons. "Tell me underneath my armor / Am I loyal, brave, and true?" Aguilera will also lend her voice to a new recording of her song "Reflection," which appeared on the original Mulan soundtrack in 1998. Watch her latest release above and prepare to fight for your honor when the live-action Mulan hits Disney+ on Sept. 4! 041b061a72
